WRNI volunteer
What is your favorite WRNI/NPR program and why?
It's hard for me to pick one, because all of the programs have something
different to offer, as far as subject matter is concerned. What I like
about many of the programs, is that they take as much of an unbiased
approach to issues and subjects as anyone is going to anywhere else.
How did you discover WRNI?
I accidentally discovered it while searching for a radio station one day
in my car. I had listened to NPR previously on other radio stations,
but either due to poor reception, or the fact that the actual NPR
programming was limited, I never listened to it often until I became
aware of WRNI.
Who is your favorite NPR/WRNI personality and why?
I'd say Tom Ashbrook of "On Point", because he will often ask the tough
questions about the tough issues that I really want to know about, and
he is not afraid to call anybody out when he senses that he is not
getting the truth. I think that more interviewers should be as thorough,
and as persistent as he is.
What inspired you to support WRNI?
The simple fact that it is up to us as listeners who really depend on
what NPR provides. Even though I can't do much, I'm always of the belief
that anything is better than nothing. If WRNI were to not be around
because of listener support, I would not be happy with myself for not
doing anything at all.
What does independence mean to you?
Independence means having the ability to form sound opinions and points
of view about anything without information that is filtered or spun
around for the wrong reasons, whatever they may be. Having information
that educates and enriches my life is incredibly important to me.
