Providence, R.I. – The percentage of RI high school seniors taking the SAT exam is on the rise, but scores are down in two of the three tested subject areas.
There was a five percent increase in participation by the class of 2010, with 5,718 seniors taking the exam. Math score averages were up a point to 488. Reading scores dropped a point to 485 and writing scores dropped four points to 478.
Scores in each category were below the national averages.
