AG TO SUE BRAYTON POINT
By Jason Bobian and Suzanna Gonzales
wrni – The Attorney General and environmental activists
claim the plant is to blame for a sharp reduction in
fish stocks in the bay. They say a cooling system at
the power plant has raised the temperature of the bay
and that that increase is destroying the fishery.
Brayton Point operators deny harming Mount Hope
Bay. The blame a decrease in fish on overfishing.
Still they are making plans for a new multi-million
dollar cooling system that would rely less on water
from the bay.
WRNI’s Jason Beaubien visited the power plant and
filed this report for WRNI’s Morning Edition.
