Boston Phoenix Newspaper Closes

It’s the end of an era for a popular Boston weekly newspaper. The Boston Phoenix will publish its last edition March 15th. The last online edition will come a week later.  The company’s newspapers in Providence and Portland, Maine will continue publishing.

Boston Phoenix executive editor Peter Kadzis attributed the paper’s demise to a drop-off in national advertising dollars.  Its publisher, Stephen Mindich said in a statement he could not find the words to express how sad a moment this is for him.
