Cuba Journal
By Jim Moses
WRNI – In 1962 a 6 year old named Anna Flores came to New England from Cuba to escape the tightening grip of Castro's revolution. Flores is now a working artist in Rhode Island. Two years ago she returned to the tropical landscape that she says still holds a part of her soul. Cuba Journal , an art exhibit now at the University of Rhode Island, juxtaposes art inspired by the visit with journal writings made during the trip. WRNI's Jim Moses talked with Flores at the gallery, where music accompanies the work.
Anna Flores' exhibit Cuba Journal/a Sculptural Installation is at the University of Rhode Island fine arts center galleries' main gallery until September 30. There will be a gallery talk by the artist on the 30th.
