Environmental activist plans independent run against Langevin
By Ian Donnis
Enviromental activist Abel Collins says he’s planning to run as an indepenedent against Congressman Jim Langevin.
In an advisory for his campaign — due to be unveiled at 3 pm Wednesday (Statehouse steps, facing downtown) — Abel says he’s motivated by frustration over ”the inability of the Republican and Democratic parties to govern for the benefit of the people.”
Collins is listed on his LinkedIn page as program manager for the Sierra Club of Rhode Island, and vice president for policy at the Environmental Council of RI.
Langevin is already facing competition from Republicans Michael Riley and Michael Gardiner and Democrat John Matson.
