Flavored tobacco sales to be banned in Providence
By FLO JONIC
PROVIDENCE, RI – Starting January 3rd it will be illegal to sell flavored tobacco products or redeem tobacco coupons in the city of Providence. Flavored tobaccos include but are not limited to those infused with fruit, chocolate, vanilla, candy or dessert flavors. Menthol cigarettes will continue to be sold.
The city's new tobacco ordinance also prohibits vendors from redeeming tobacco coupons that provide tobacco product for free or at a reduced price. Violators can be fined up to $500.
