Housing Advocates Urge Affordable Living
By Suzannah Gonzales
Providence, RI – Housing advocates tried to get arrested again Tuesday Night at the statehouse, as they protested the freezing of funds for affordable housing. Rather than book the protestors, police simply removed them from the state house.
The activists say they will be back to try to draw more attention to the issue.
Part of the concern of about affordable housing in Rhode Island is a health concern. Low-income families find
themselves at particular risk for lead poisoning. WRNI?s Suzannah Gonzales filed this report for Morning Edition.
Gonzales is an Environmental Journalism Fellow of the Metcalf Institute at the University of Rhode Island.
