WPRI RWU Poll: Raimondo & Fung Still Locked In Close Matchup
A new poll shows that Democrat Gina Raimondo and Republican Allan Fung are still locked in a virtual dead heat in the race for governor.
The poll by Channel 12, WPRI-TV, and Roger Williams University shows a hypothetical matchup beween Raimondo and Fung. Raimondo gets 39 percent of the support, while Fung has 37 percent, and 14 percent of voters are undecided.
The findings are similar to the last WPRI-TV/Roger Williams poll in February.
WPRI pollster Joe Fleming told the TV station that voters are less than excited about their choices. “The undecided voters just aren’t moving at this point. They just aren’t sure which way to go,” he said. “The governor has spent the money to try and move those voters, but so far it hasn’t worked.”
Fung and Raimondo will square off against primary rivals from their own respective parties on September 12.
Matt Brown and Spencer Dickinson are also running as Democrats. Patricia Morgan and Giovanni Feroce are running as Republicans.
