Frank Caprio "wants another opportunity"; plans to run for treasurer in 2014

Former state Treasurer Frank Caprio, whose gubernatorial campaign imploded in 2010, plans to run for the treasurer's office in 2014, according to his former spokesman, Peter Kerwin.

"I know that he's in," Kerwin says.

Archambault Predicts Senate Will Pass Same-Sex Marriage; Options Open for 2014

State Senator Stephen Archambault (D-Smithfield) believes the "marriage equality" bill backed by same-sex marriage proponents will emerge from the Senate Judiciary Committee and receive overwhelming support in the full Senate.

"I expect it will go to a [committee] vote, and I'm confident it will pass," Archambault says of the same-sex marriage bill introduced by state Senator Donna Nesselbush (D-Pawtucket).

Josh Miller may mull run for lieutenant governor

Add Senator Josh Miller (D-Cranston) to the list of potential candidates for lieutenant governor in 2014.

Miller says it's too early to consider him an LG candidate, but adds that there "might be a point before the end of the session that I'll start looking at it."

The Cranston Democrat and restaurateur says he's focused on legislative matters for now and wants to consider his potential effectiveness as lieutenant governor before making a decision. Miller says he can offer "a wide range of experience on a wide range of issues."

Hassett says he'll decide soon on run for secretary of state

Providence City Councilor Terry Hassett, who was among the earliest to emerge as a prospective candidate for secretary of state in 2014, says he'll decide by month's end whether to pursue a campaign for that office.

The field of potential candidates for SoS has changed considerably since Hassett's interest was first reported in mid-2011.
