Mysterious group using radio spot to urge votes against Speaker Fox

A group calling itself Concerned Rhode Islanders Against Gordon Fox is using a radio commercial to urge voters not to support Fox in the November 6 election.

UPDATE: WPRO tells RIPR the ad was placed by an agency from Woodbridge, Connecticut. The contact for the agency, Harvey Adelberg, didn’t return a call seeking comment; he is a URI grad and formerly worked for WPRO.

Cicilline commercial responds to Doherty’s line of attack

A new spot by David Cicilline hits back against a recent attack by the National Republican Congressional Committee and similar messages from Brendan Doherty’s campaign, like this:

Meanwhile, Doherty and Cicilline will square off at 7 tonight in a one-hour debate cosponsored by ABC6, RI Public Radio and the League of Women Voters. It will be simulcast on RIPR.

Doherty commercial attacks Cicilline’s 2010 remark about Providence’s “excellent” condition

Campaign watchers have long anticipated a spot criticizing Congressman David Cicilline’s 2010 evaluation of Providence’s supposedly “excellent” fiscal condition. Republican challenger Brendan Doherty has now launched such a commercial, entitled “Cover Up.”
