Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse got a crowd of thousands chanting and cheering Sunday at a rally on the National Mall in Washington focused on climate change.
Whitehouse says there are only two ways to move climate change legislation: show Congress how out of step it is with the American public, and encourage the president to get serious on the issue.
Just as the snow from last week’s blizzard was starting to melt away, revealing pavement on most roads and sidewalks, Rhode Islanders woke up Sunday to even more snow.
Forecasters predict between 6 to 8 inches of snow for Rhode Island, and up to 8 inches to fall by Sunday night in Boston. While southern New Hampshire and central Massachusetts could see less snow.
Rhode Island is one of 29 states that have reached an out of court settlement with the Toyota Corporation over the company’s practice of concealing safety defects related to unintended acceleration. The Ocean State will receive half a million dollars from the 29-million dollar settlement. And Toyota will be restricted from advertising the safety of vehicles without engineering data to back up their claims.
